DoorDash Restaurant Fees in the U.S.: Basic, Plus, Premier and Direct Ordering

A current U.S. guide to DoorDash restaurant commission rates, pickup fees, Online Ordering processing, optional costs and how to calculate the effective fee from your own merchant statement.

DoorDash's current public U.S. merchant pricing lists three Marketplace plans for eligible restaurant partners with 75 or fewer locations: | DoorDash U.S. plan | Delivery commission | Pickup commission | | --- | ---: | ---: | | Basic | 15% | 6% | | Plus | 25% | 6% | | Premier | 30% | 6% | That is already more useful than the common claim that “DoorDash takes 30%.” Some restaurants may pay 30%; others may not. Your signed merchant terms and actual statement remain the reliable source. Use the restaurant delivery commission calculator to run your own rates and order mix. ## DoorDash Basic in the U.S. DoorDash currently lists Basic at 15% commission on delivery orders and 6% on pickup. Basic is the lowest public Marketplace delivery rate of the three U.S. plans and is positioned for restaurants that want basic marketplace exposure with a narrower customer reach than higher tiers. Lower commission is only one side of the decision. If a higher plan genuinely produces incremental profitable orders, paying more per order may still produce more contribution dollars overall. ## DoorDash Plus in the U.S. DoorDash currently lists Plus at 25% delivery commission and 6% pickup commission. Plus expands customer reach and includes access to DashPass members under DoorDash's published plan structure. To evaluate it, compare the incremental contribution from any additional orders with the extra ten commission points versus Basic. For example, if a restaurant moves from a 15% to a 25% delivery rate, that is an additional $10 of commission for every $100 of applicable delivery sales. The plan has to create enough incremental value to justify that difference. ## DoorDash Premier in the U.S. DoorDash currently lists Premier at 30% delivery commission and 6% pickup commission. DoorDash positions Premier around maximum reach, promotional support and a published order guarantee subject to conditions. A 30% fee can sound large in isolation. The actual decision is whether the Marketplace demand and services create sufficient incremental gross profit after food, labour, packaging and other order-level costs. ## Pickup is currently 6% across the U.S. plans DoorDash's public U.S. pricing says pickup is 6% across Basic, Plus and Premier for partners who comply with its terms, including matching DoorDash Pickup menu prices to in-store prices. That condition matters. Do not assume a public pickup number applies if your merchant setup does not meet the stated requirements. ## Marketplace commission includes payment processing DoorDash says there is no separate activation, subscription or Marketplace payment-processing fee for its public U.S. partnership plans. Optional costs can still exist, including tablet and marketing products. When reconciling your actual effective rate, use the statement rather than relying on a simplified plan card. ## DoorDash Online Ordering has different economics DoorDash's U.S. restaurant page currently describes Online Ordering orders placed on the restaurant's own website as 0% commission with a published 2.9% + $0.30 per-order payment processing fee. This is not the same thing as Marketplace. Marketplace gives the restaurant exposure to DoorDash's consumer demand. Online Ordering is a direct-branded ordering channel. A lower fee does not mean it can automatically replace the acquisition value of a marketplace. ## Worked example: 15% versus 30% Suppose a restaurant receives 400 monthly delivery orders with a $35 average order value: Marketplace sales = 400 × $35 = $14,000 At 15%: $14,000 × 15% = $2,100 At 30%: $14,000 × 30% = $4,200 Difference: $2,100 per month That tells you the fee difference at identical sales volume. It does not tell you whether Premier would create more orders or a different average check. That is why plan evaluation needs both volume and unit economics. ## Calculate contribution after the fee A marketplace order is not profitable merely because revenue exceeds commission. A simplified contribution view might include: Order subtotal − food/packaging cost − marketplace fees − incremental labour/delivery cost = contribution before fixed costs The exact cost categories depend on the restaurant. The key is to avoid comparing a 25% commission with a 3% direct processing rate while pretending food, labour and fulfillment disappear on the direct order. ## Use effective take rate for your own statement If you include optional promotions or fixed platform costs in the analysis: Effective take rate = total selected marketplace fees ÷ marketplace sales That makes unlike fee structures comparable in one ratio. Run it in the delivery commission calculator, then read direct ordering vs third-party delivery before deciding which orders should live where. ## Source and date note This guide was checked against DoorDash's public U.S. merchant pricing on August 29, 2026. Pricing, regulations and merchant agreements can change. DoorDash itself notes eligibility and pricing conditions. Use the current merchant statement for any financial decision. ## Sources and further reading - DoorDash U.S. merchant pricing
